Blairemore Saskatoon; A brief history

Blairmore Suburban Centre Saskatoon is a community service/commercial/residential area located in the west end of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  The location is home to 1170 residents. Blairmore Saskatoon has a  median personal income is $58,111.00, and a typical home value of $217,928.

Annexed from the Rural Municipality of Corman Park No. 344 in 2005 it is within the city’s Blairmore Suburban Development Area, the Suburban Development Area will include seven new areas, plus the Blairmore Suburban Centre, which is the initial component of the Saskatoon Suburban Development Area to be created.

The suburban centre lies southern of 22nd Street West, which is also Saskatchewan Highway 14. Saskatchewan Highway 7 defines the area’s western boundary as it connects to the site of a future interchange at 22nd Street.  Prior to 2012, highway 7 was momentarily lined up with Betts Avenue within the rural centre up until highway 7 was moved to the west of the Blairmore Suburban Centre after construction was completed on the first phase of the shopping centre.

The community likewise dovetails with the last phase of construction of the surrounding Parkridge area to the south.

At present, the Blairmore Suburban Centre contains two secondary schools Tommy Douglas Collegiate as well as Bethlehem High School, plus a recreation/civic centre named Shaw Centre which opened up the fall of 2008. The 3 centers are one-of-a-kind in Saskatoon as they are the first to be literally linked as one huge building, permitting sharing of leisure facilities.

Added strip-mall and resort development exists east of Betts Avenue, also. The hotels being constructed includes several major chain accommodations to be built on the west side of the city.

Roughly 315,000 square feet (29,300 m2) of retail is anticipated to be eventually built in Blairmore Suburban Development Area although it is unknown as to just how much of this is allocated for the Suburban Centre itself.

Blairmore Suburban Centre is located a couple of kilometres west of the Confederation Park Mall at 22nd Street and  Circle Drive.
